I want to share some news that I received not too long ago.
Unremarkable…unremarkable…unremarkable…unremarkable…unremarkable.
Never in my life have I been so happy to be called unremarkable. The CT scans taken at the halfway point of my chemotherapy treatment all say the same thing. The five cancerous sites in my neck, chest, and pelvis all have identical descriptions. I am officially unremarkable. One of my friends, who happens to be in the medical field, explained, “Just so you know that’s absolutely the greatest thing a doctor could ever tell you. So that is AMAZING news!!!”
These results do not mean the cancer is completely gone. For reference, a tumour with a billion cancer cells is pretty small, measuring 1cm(3). What it does mean is that all my lymph nodes look normal size, and thus the chemotherapy is doing its job.
We will not receive more information until the scans after my final treatment. The light at the end of the tunnel is bright. Now I need to get through the rest of the tunnel and recover.
Perhaps unremarkable, but you're still MARVELLOUS!
