For almost two years, I have been battling stage four non-hodgkins lymphoma (DLBCL) which is aggressive and difficult to treat, as it mutates quickly.
Not yet 50, I have endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy (R-CHOP, Pola-BR), an autologous stem-cell transplant, and CAR T cell therapy.
Each treatment ended with hope and even positive signs for remission, but my cancer ultimately returned.
I am now undergoing another round of chemotherapy in the hopes that doctors can slow the progress of the disease.
Thanks to the incredible research being done around the world, there is a new drug that could offer me the best chance at remission. Glofitamab, developed by Roche, has been approved by Health Canada and is available, but it is a prohibitively-expensive treatment, as it is not covered by OHIP.
While our private health insurance may agree to cover a portion of the cost, assessment and approval for treatments like these can take time.
The sooner I get this treatment, the better my chances are at winning this battle and realising my dream of seeing my two young sons grow up.
Whatever you can donate to help defray the cost of this $150,000+ treatment - would be greatly appreciated.
If the insurance company eventually pays some of the cost, any excess funds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
If you've been following my blog, then you know I am strong and like to remain positive. Any amount that you can offer will bring my family hope and will allow me to access this potentially life-saving medication. Every dollar makes a difference.
